Wake up inside the dream.

Most people have a lucid dream by accident once or twice and never work out how to do it on purpose. The techniques that work are known — just scattered and badly taught. Lucid North puts them in one place, in the right order, on an interface that respects the hour.

Join the list and get the 30-Day Lucid Dreaming Protocol — the exact night-by-night plan, free.

We'll send the protocol now, then one note the day Lucid North is out.

Train a cue

Before bed you teach a quiet sound to mean one question: am I dreaming? Late in the night the app plays it back — and the question follows the sound into the dream.

Reality checks

Well-timed prompts through the day build the habit of actually questioning whether you're awake — the habit that fires while you're dreaming.

A 30-second dream journal

A capture screen built for the seconds after you wake, before the dream evaporates. Recall improves fast once you write them down.

A real protocol

Built on a published controlled study (Konkoly et al., 2024), in the right order. Not folklore, not a wiki rabbit hole.

Made for 4 a.m.

Deep, low-glare, thumb-reachable. Readable half-asleep without wrecking your sleep or your partner's.

Private by default

No account, no server sync. Your dream journal never leaves your device.

Lucid North — how the trained cue carries a question from waking life into the dream

You pick a short, distinctive sound and, for a few minutes before bed, pair it with the thought am I dreaming? Late in the night — when you're most likely to be dreaming — the app plays it back quietly. If the association took, the question surfaces inside the dream, you check your hands, and you're lucid.

"Does this actually work?"

The core technique (targeted memory reactivation) comes from a 2024 peer-reviewed controlled study, not a forum. It isn't instant — most people need a few weeks of consistent practice — and Lucid North is built to make that practice stick.

"Is it safe to run at night?"

The cue is a short, quiet sound you set the volume for, played a handful of times in the back half of the night. You can turn it off entirely and still use the training and journal.

"Will you read my dreams?"

No. There's no account, no sync, no server. The journal is a local file on your phone that you can export or wipe. The website uses cookie-free, self-hosted analytics and nothing else.

Is lucid dreaming a real, trainable skill?

Yes. It's documented in sleep research, and the induction techniques Lucid North uses come from a published controlled study (Konkoly et al., 2024). Most people can learn it with consistent practice over a few weeks.

Is Lucid North free?

The practice tools, reality checks and dream journal are free, and stay free. One optional paid tier adds extended protocol guidance.

Does it play sounds while I sleep?

It can play a quiet trained cue late in the night — the sound you taught before bed to mean “am I dreaming?” You choose whether to enable it, and the volume.

Is my dream journal private?

Completely. There is no account and no server sync — it never leaves your device. You can export it any time.
