Privacy Policy

This policy covers the True North Android app (com.trynorthapps.truenorth), the trynorthapps.com website and the North apps mailing list. All are published byMoschovakis ("we"). Contact:[email protected].

True North app: the short version

True North is local-first. There is no account to create. Your workouts, sets, plan, habits, profile (goal, experience, body weight, schedule) and profile photo are stored only in the app's private storage on your phone. We have no server copy of them. We show no ads and use no analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not sell your data.

Health Connect data

If you choose to connect True North to AndroidHealth Connect (Settings → Health Connect), the app asks for these permissions and uses them only as described:

• Weight (read). We read your most recent body-weight reading so you can update your profile weight in one tap. Profile weight is used to suggest safe starting weights for exercises.
• Steps (read). We read today's step count to automatically tick off a step-goal habit you set up in the app.
• Exercise sessions (write). When you finish a strength workout or an interval walk, we write the session (type, start and end time, title) to Health Connect so it appears in your other fitness apps. We do not read exercise sessions back.

Data read from Health Connect is processed and stored on your device only. It is never sent to our servers, to the AI Coach, or to any third party. It is not used for advertising, not sold, and not used for any purpose other than the features above. No other Health Connect data types (heart rate, sleep and so on) are accessed.

The use of information received from Health Connect adheres to theHealth Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can revoke access at any time in Health Connect (Android Settings → Health Connect → App permissions → True North). Workouts already written to Health Connect stay there until you delete them in Health Connect.

Data that leaves your phone

Only in these cases, and only when you use the feature:

• AI Coach (Pro feature). When you send the Coach a message, report an injury, or ask it to analyse your training, the app sends that message plus a short training summary: your goal, experience level, training days and session length, any restrictions or injury you typed, and your recent sessions (exercise names, weights, reps, effort). This goes to our proxy at trynorthapps.com (Cloudflare), which forwards it to a third-party AI model provider (Groq or OpenRouter) to generate the reply. We do not store these requests. The AI providers process them under their own terms and may keep them for a limited time. Health Connect data is not included.
• Purchases. Subscriptions are billed by Google Play. We use RevenueCat to check whether Pro is active. RevenueCat receives a random app user ID and your purchase history. It does not receive your workouts or health data.
• Referrals. If you claim a referral code, the app sends the email address you enter, the app's random user ID and the code to trynorthapps.com. We store these to credit the free month and nothing else.
• Export and share. CSV export and the workout share card only go where you send them via Android's share sheet.

Permissions

Notifications and a foreground service keep the interval-walk timer and chime running while you use other apps. The photo picker is used only when you choose a profile picture. Internet is used only for the cases listed above.

Retention and deletion

App data stays on your phone until you clear the app's data or uninstall it, which deletes it permanently. We cannot recover it. To delete referral data or anything else we hold about you, email[email protected] and we will delete it within 30 days.

Children

True North is not directed at children under 13.

This website

trynorthapps.com is a static site on Cloudflare Pages. No advertising cookies are set. We measure visits and which buttons get clicked withUmami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool we self-host on our own server. It uses no cookies, sets no cross-site identifiers, and collects no personal data. Cloudflare, as our CDN, processes standard request logs (IP address, user agent) to serve and protect the site.

The mailing list

If you enter your email, we store that address to send you the lead magnet you asked for (the 30-Day Lucid Dreaming Protocol or the 12-Week Habit Challenge) and launch announcements for True North and Lucid North. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can have your address deleted any time by writing to[email protected]. We do not sell, rent, or share your address. Email delivery is handled by Brevo, acting as our processor on our instructions.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date above. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
